It happened. Daniel already managed to get his first bragging rights....his first set of stitches! (2 to be exact) We were at church of all places. He was running around before a service started and tripped and fell into the frame of a chair, which somehow managed to give him a very large gash in his forehead. Which, being a head wound, bled profusely. So, off we went to the ER. About 2 hours later, we got to go home with a freshly bandaged little guy. He did really well throughout the whole thing! He hated to be held down, but who doesn't. He seemed to understand what they were doing and that it would make him better, so he didn't fight much once they started to actually stitch. More remarkably, I was totally calm during everything. I thought I'd freak once they held him down and especially when they started to stitch him up, but I was totally fine. May have been my years working at a vet clinic and seeing more surgeries (and the resulting sutures) than I can count.
Dirk is very proud. We went out for breakfast and Daniel has a band-aid covering the stitches, so you can't really tell there's anything major wrong. A lady behind the counter asked what he did to his head and Dirk volunteered (rather quickly and full of pride) that he even had stitches! It's very cute. I know stitches and scars and what-not are huge sources of pride and such for guys and I'm ok with that. I just hope he doesn't get TOO many too soon!!
