"Your messiah..." All the memories mother had forced upon her flooded her being, every resident of Rapture, all their families, their dreams, their wants. What was to make her selfless and loving...and it utterly disgusted her. These beings who she was to protect and serve without thought, they didn't deserve it.
Utopia was just a foolish dream, a goal to remove all the flaws from man in an attempt to destroy conflict, selfishness...flaws. To ultimately strip the world of its color. It was those same imperfections that made the good points worth everyone's time.
She looked down at the one person who'd been the highlight to the hell she'd endured. The one good thing Rapture had given her, and taken away twice already.
Not this time. She raised the needle, pulling together the memories of the little sisters; where the perfect spot was.
Rapture would not keep him.
She brought the needle down swiftly, impaling the man's chest, just under his right shoulder. Father would give her new strength again.
She would show mother what her twisted dream had wrought, her only regret was that father would not be there to witness it. And after, they'd be together again, like it was supposed to be.
To watch the sun rise on their new beginning.
The tears ran down her face, mixing with the salt water of the leaking room. She looked down at him, reaching out to run her fingers over his bloody helm. "Soon father, don't worry, I will make this right." She extracted the needle, pocketing the vial.
"Watch."
Hate. She'd never known the true depth of that feeling. Never experienced it's extent of power until she was standing in front of the barrier to her, no, their freedom. Staring at those faces that wished to keep her there, the people that followed blindly, hoping for someone else to fix their problems, to save them from their mistakes. Watching as he finally fell, after days of fighting to get to her, after being reunited.
She would give them their second coming they so desired.
She was looking forward to it.
