Not that it would be easy for most people to buy these for me, but if you're a random nice rich internet person, and you want to buy one of these for me, please do. Please please. Or, if you own one of them and could possible rip it and upload it for me, then please also comment.*

Patrick and Eugene::Postcards from Summerisle
Tummytouch records / 2004
A funny and unlikely duo from the UK, comprised of Patrick Dawes (percussionist of Groove Armada fame) and Eugene Bazodis (a sax/horn player of very unusual talent). I think most people will recognize their music from the new VW commercial for their car, the Rabbit; that song is called "The Birds and the Bees" and is the single from this release. But more than that, Patrick & Eugene have a very original take on Beyonce and Kylie Minogue dance tunes (they oompa them up!), as well as various tribal sounds, jazz influence, ska and whatever else two men beating on things and blowing on saxes, trombones and clarinets can cook up! As something of a sleeper hit, I'm surprised it's almost impossible to find in physical form anywhere...and I want the Japanese edition, that comes with 2 bonus tracks! It's even mooore expensive!

Ace Fu Records / 2004
Man Man are one of those groups that I just stumbled across. They were coming to Austin's SXSW, and they all had these crazy stage names and moustaches. At the same time I randomly found a review of their latest offering, Six Demon Bag, that had some nifty MP3s to listen to. And I did. And I looooooved them. They are what I believe to be the closest thing to Kaizers Orchestra that the US can offer (aside from Tom Waits, but he's kind of an inspiration for KO and MM), combining Screaming Jay Hawkins, Frank Zappa, Iggy Pop and whatever else they find along the way (like big moustaches).
Ace Fu is offering a special deal to buy a CD and get a Man Man t-shirt for $20, so I sooooo want it!!!! I really want a shirt. I really want to see them live (they only played at 21+ venues at SXSW, so I didn't see them
).

Julian Berntzen :: Waffy Town
New Records / 2003
A Norwegian musician that has some fairly mainstream, 'easy-listening' stuff, but he's a real talented guy. I mean, check his video on YouTube. He's a composer and violinist, and worked on his first offering (Waffy Town) for years, complete with a storyline and setting and everything in a pop-cabaret style. In fact, it's set to become a musical in 2007 at the National Stage in Bergen.

I've already purchased these discs, which have either come or are on their way. Fab.
Dungen :: Ta Det Lugt
Good, solid Swedish rock. In Swedish, of course. I have the US digipack edition with a bonus disc, but I haven't really listened to it much. Tomorrow I shall.

I had to pre-order this baby. It's already out in the UK, and it comes out the 11th here in the US, but I wanted to make sure I got the US Special-edition digipack that comes with the Absolution DVD (which I had illegally downloaded, but now deleted in favor of having a licensed NTSC version). Recognize that cover design artist? (hint:: pink floyd)

MUSE MySpace Geoff Berner :: Whiskey Rabbi
If you haven't heard this guy -- which I'm sure most of you haven't -- you really need to. Because he's kind of unique. I mean, he's essentially a one-man band (with some violin backup) from Canada that plays accordion music in the Jewish Klezmer style, albeit with some funky changes. His songs are intelligent and funny, sometimes provocative ("Lucky Goddamn Jew" certainly seemed duragatory to me, but then I found out Geoff himself is Jewish). Oh yeah, he was the opening act for Kaizers Orchestra on their tour last year. RAWK.
