Okay, haven't updated in forever (again). You 2 people who may read this should be used to it by now.

First off, I'm turning 20 tomorrow. Holy crap. I'm no longer a teenager, and I'm oooooold. OOOOOOLD. I don't care what anybody says, in my line of work, I'm really old for my playing level (although that isn't entirely my fault...). That leads into what I was going to say about my current state of affairs: I'm so glad I came to UT Austin. So. glad. Honestly, I feel my playing ability and technique have jumped 200% in just 3 weeks of being here, which bodes well for the future. My teacher is quite entertaining, and he's been able to fix a myriad of problems with my posture (which in turn affect my intonation, bowing technique, etc.) and I've only had about 3.5 lessons. If that isn't something to be happy about, I don't know what is.

Second, I feel very comfortable here. Extremely. I haven't been homesick once (in fact, my roommate comments that "You're not sad to be away from home at all, are you?"). Speaking of my roommate, she's really great. We're so much alike in so many ways...even our birthdays (were supposed to be) the same. I go back to Visalia for Thanksgiving, though.

So...yeah. The only thing is, apparently we need to get out and experience Austin; my viola prof. told me he thought I would go out and do a lot of things, because Austin is "a lot like Northern California." ^_^ Obviously he doesn't know me that well.

1) I'm multitalented (musician + artist)
2) For some reason people tend to like me. I'm not sure why.
3) People actually respect me for playing the viola. (*_*)
4) I can usually out-draw art majors.
5) I've learned to take risks.
6) My family is wonderful and supportive, even if they get on my nerves.

1) I'm easily intimidated by people I think are better than me.
2) I tend to defer my own feelings for somebody else's sake.
3) I have a bad habit of slacking at the worst possible times.
4) I also have a bad habit of not finishing what I start (like sketches)
5) I really should apply myself more. I used to when I was younger...I don't know what went wrong.
6) I never really learned how to drive, and being in Austin will not make me learn any faster.
7) I tend to be rather sloppy, even if I don't like things that way.
8) I wish I would have started music a long time ago -- or at least, private lessons.
9) I wish I had more patience with my mom -- or was better at empathizing with people. Even if they think I'm good at it -- I'm not.
10) I can never, ever go to sleep before midnight. Or 1am, as the case normally is. I don't know if I'm a vampire or what.
