The green surface of the chalkboard is cluttered with white smudges.
Tonight I will throw my sponge in water and wipe it clean.
You can't write anything new on top of old smudges.
They are only good as long as they are legible...
You could try a different color chalk, but it's only strength would be it's contrast to the last, and after so long the colors will blur together making an even worse brown taupe.
It's better to wash and wait until you have something worthwhile to write.
Then choose the color most appropriate.
