I will continue posting.
Recollection: I woke up this morning and Ben was hammering down the bathroom door to Angeline's bathroom.
Quite an interesting transformation the house went through in the middle of the night. It was actually partially cleaned when i woke up. The bathrooms looked great! The living room was dusted. And now Angeline can pee without fear of someone or some animal waltzing in.
Yesterday was a mildly fabulous day. I woke quite early to get into work at 5:30am. There was a mission that had to be scheduled so the Adjutant General could fly up and meet the state governor about the wild fires. It took us a couple of hours to get everything coordinated, but i have to say it went pretty smoothly.
About 9am, i still couldn't brush the sleep from my eyes, so i made a trip down to Starbuck's. Starbuck's trivia question: "In Tennis, what is a love?" Trivia questions make wonderful conversation starters, and there was this cute girl making my coffee. So i asked, and she explained, and we talked, and we smiled. She was really quite nice, and quite enjoyable to chat with. By the grace of Jessica from Starbuck's and some ridiculously strong coffee, my day suddenly got real nice.
I sat around at the office for a few more hours, and then hit the gym during lunch. I have begun a different style of workout then the old lift heavy - get big style i used to do. My limited understanding of the way muscles work together that i picked up at Pure Fitness when i worked there coupled with the different forms of excersise i have been learning (pilates, yoga) have brought me to the conclusion that strength is more than being a huge meathead. There are muscles called stabilizer muscles that must be trained first in order to hold the larger muscles in place and provide the body with the balance and form it needs to employ the right muscles for the right job. Bad form and weak stabilizers tend to be the source of many pains resulting from overexerting muscles that are not supposed to be employed in a specific excersise.
For instance, you will often see in the gym someone doing a straight bar, or curl bar bicep curl. They stack on ridiculous amounts of weight and then lean forward at the shoulders and throw the weight up. Take this same excersise and do it correctly with half the weight and your muscles will hurt just as bad, and you won't over exert your lower back and your shoulders trying to throw the weight up that is supposed to be focusing on your biceps. Take very light weight. Get into a good start position, knees slightly bent, stomach flat, back straight, elbows tucked close to the sides. Curl the weight up slowly maintaining this same posture all the way up and down. As the bar comes up, blow out, as you let the weight down, breath in.
Challenging variations:
Stand with your feet slightly out in front of you and your back flat against the wall. Now you cannot employ your back muscles at all to lift the weight. The same weight will feel considerably heavier.
Grab a balance board or a gel to stand on. Focus on your core and balance as you raise the weight and let it down. Having to balance engages your stabilizers throughout your body. It also forces you to lift perfectly evenly with both arms in order to maintain your balance.
(Music please. Thank you.)
So my day continued. About 3pm, Frank told me to go home if i wasn't really doing anything. My mission for the day was finished by 9am, so i wasn't really. Hell yeah! Nap time!
Shotgun came in and woke me up by wrapping her teeth around my obviously chewable arm. It was cool. I was supposed to have been in class already anyways. Quick shower, quick change.
When i got to school, there was my class (the one other person that showed up and my teacher) along with another guy from a different class, and the teacher's husband. They were all holding swords and lunging at each other! Thank you so much for waking me up Shotgun! I get to hold pointy sticks and stab people! Fucking rock on!
Turns out i am a natural at fencing! I actually got in and stabbed the instructor a few times! Maybe he let me, but you know... Then we got to fight with a sword and a knife. That was a little more challenging.
After class i cut up and passed out some more flyers for the SU logo contest. We actually got our first submission yesterday, which is quite a joy for me. I have been busting my ass this term to try to get people involved in the SU.
There is this girl, Alyssa, at school, whom i just about gave up on over the break. Every time we get together we talk for hours at a time. Last term i had gotten her number and asked her out a few times, always to no avail. I started getting the vibe that she wasn't as interested in me as i was in her, so i chilled. I called her periodically, and she never called back.
Well, we met up and talked again yesterday. She apologized to me because she says she never really calls anyone back. All of her friends get mad at her for doing that. I also found out she does not have a boyfriend, so that was not it either...
We ended up getting a coffee, going down to Tempe Lake, and talking about everything and anything for about 2 hours last night. It was really a nice time. When i dropped her back off for class, she gave me a cute little shy goodbye and call me thing.
So i did not sleep much last night. I was up thinking about Alyssa all night long. I am such a sucker for a pretty girl.
Just to recap on the whole girl situation:
Sheena still kicks ass, but falls more into the girl friend, then the girlfriend category.
Lydia has sensed my increased attention towards her, and has really kind of pushed me away. I can see that she is post relationship right now with Chris whom she complained about giving her too much attention. So to avoid a strain on our friendship, i am just gonna chill in the shadows and let things flow as they may.
By the way, everyone should check this shit out:
