the V word

I've been thinking about something recently, and as of tonight I've made a decision.

I'm going to go vegan.

Now, it's not because of animal rights (well, in retrospect yes, I think it's much better to not be advocating the harsh treatment of animals), but once again for health reasons. I'm finding out the unhealthy dips in my vegetarian diet which could be eliminated by abstaining from cheese (sad, I know... I will always have fond memories of it.), and I want to get rid of them.

I also hear a lot about how much healthier people feel after eliminating meat from their diet, and I felt that when I got rid of poultry and red meats. Now I want to get rid of the fish and other animal byproducts I'm ingesting and experience that refreshing feeling again.

Sushi trips will have to be altered (but never, never cancelled!). No more sashimi, no spicy salmon... no tamago. But there is delicious inari sushi and sweet potato tempura and hand rolls! Not to mention brown rice vegetable rolls and avocado green dragon rolls. Mmm...

Cheese. There goes poutine (with mushroom gravy, of course), an HG staple. But fries and gravy without the cheese is still delicious.

Looking back on this note, I'm actually much more pleased I decided to do this :) Exciting!
