I was looking for a topic to talk on this week that matched up with PBP but wasn't the usual thing. Fjords blinked on in my mind and I haven't been able to shake them, in fact my Facebook banner was changed to a lovely fjord shot earlier this week.

If you think about the method in which fjords are formed by glacial migration where the ice grinds against the bedrock leaving a steep cliff along inlets. The years it took to build these formations is long but I think it offers a fairly accurate example that nothing lasting will happen overnight. Many things in life are hard, and slow and backbreaking to see any progress. It doesn't mean we give up on that project because of the time it takes, it simply means that the effort we put out into that project will last longer in the result.
Take a look at a lot of quick-diets out there. You get fast results form some of these medications and fad diets, but odds are you don't stay 'fit' very long (possibly about as long as it took you to get 'fit' in your quick fix). However, people that take the slow and steady approach I think have a higher percentage of keeping their fitness level longer. It takes longer to get there but you appreciate it more.
Think of the rock in the fjords (earth), the glacial ice (water), the wind (air, duh) that moves things along, and the water that flows making it's own mark. It is a place that is born of the elements in such a profound way you cannot help but feel humbled and in awe of the formations.
When we look at Tarot the Fool is often depicted as merrily walking off a precipice with his possessions on his back merrily stepping forward for the joy of discovery with a child like exuberance. I always look at that cliff as a fjord as I usually see water with it.
The Fool is not necessarily a bad card. I look at it as a transitional card. It is a beginning and an end. The path he walks will end, could end - you never know he might walk up into the air, or dive under the sea... but commonly if you walk off a cliff you will die. An ending to your path... but the Fool shows that there is something beyond that. Even seemingly stupid choices which may result in tragedy just might work out for the best in the end after all.
This is commonly voiced today as 'everything happens for a reason'. Whenever you are in the middle of that *result* you probably don't appreciate this advice. However, after a year or two where your mind and body have healed - maybe even your heart you get to see that where you have ended up on your journey is better for you than where you could have ended up on that other path.
Foolish wisdom, wisdom of a child; sometimes you just *know* and many times I would say to follow that inner knowledge. No one else can tell you how to walk your path other than you. Listen to yourself.
