much belated birthday entry...

Jun 15, 2005 04:20

I turned 24 on the 6th.

good things:

-CJ took me to the movies and contributed to my crocheting addiction with a gift of some gorgeous chartreuse yarn. She also cooked her fabulous linguine. Yum!

-Henry called.

-Camden called.

-Josh and Ben called from L.A.

-Rewind contributed to my caffeine dependency by giving me a flat of Sobe No Fear.

-Marcess catered to my geekdom with a book of useless, but interesting information (Do Penguins Have Knees? by David Feldman). She also gave me some sandalwood perfume and took me to L'Amyx and bought me some delicious vanilla black tea. Yet another reason why she totally rocks.

-Harper (who is a lot better friend than I really give him credit for. kiss my ass, Flannery. I know you told me so. you were right. there, I admitted it. happy now? prat *grins*.) bought me Matchstick Men and Foxfire on DVD.

bad thing/the big birthday blow-off:

-Dicen did not call me at all during the entire 24 hour span or the following day. he showed up on the 8th around 3 a.m. explaining that Anne Shayler's best friend Jamie's mum had been in the hospital and died of cancer during the previous two day stretch. Since I am not a completely heartless bitch, I forgave him. Especially since he came bearing gifts of caffeine and pie. And not just one pie, but two. one for eating and one to be smashed in his face at his request. apparently having me smash French silk chocolate pie into his face made him feel like less of an asshole, I was happy to oblige. as far as apologies go, he gets an A for creativity, which as we all know I value above all else. and then on the 11th he showed up around midnight and gave me the complete first season of Tru Calling on DVD. woot! so, yeah, he's forgiven.

in other news:

-as of June 13th I have 90 days sober!!! being proud of myself is a new feeling, one that I'm definately digging.

-I have basically become a vegetarian. mostly by default, because there is never anything besides cheese, bread and condiments in this damn house. and when my parents buy meat they get beef which I gave up last Ocotber.

-I've been spending a lot of time hanging out with my sister, which is weird, but good. Since May she's been a lot cooler. I don't know what to attribute this change to, could be she's finally outgrowing the bullshit high school mentality that bogged her down for so long. could be that she's realizing that all she really has is her husband (who is a whiny prat and doesn't spend much time with her to begin with), my parental units and me and so she's reaching out. I vote for a little of column a and a little of column b. but amazingly enough we have a lot of fun together. is anyone else completely shocked and disturbed by that statement? I'll take things I never thought I would say and mean for a thousand, Alex. but all sarcasm aside, I really think this is a good thing, I mean she is, to the best of my knowledge, the only biological sibling I have in this life.
