Buenos dias.
February 20th is way too long away. At least the sun is shining here in Cincinnati. I've started to compile a 'to do' list for this trip, and so far I'm pretty overwhelmed. I wish I knew someone who has done this program who can offer some advice as to what particular items to bring are necessary and what aren't. Ah well. A few days ago, my mom's cousins called to find out when I'll be arriving to Santiago. They are some of the warmest and kindest people I've met. I met them about 7 years ago when my family visited them in Santiago, but I was a little girl, and my curiosity in the Spanish language was just beginning to bud. I can't wait to see them and be able to communicate with them in THEIR language, not mine. I feel so fortunate to have them there, what a bonus. Of course I did choose to study abroad in Chile partially because I wanted to reconnect with my mother's family.
Meanwhile, I've discovered that Bluegrass/Folk/Country music is real swell. Thanks to Paul's large collection of Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, and Woodie Guthrie, I've developed a taste for this category of music that never really sparked my fancy before. Oh, and the Brokeback Mountain Soundtrack is pretty hoppin' as well. I recommend listening to it.
The end.
