#SHERLOCK: This is an Answer to a Question that turned out to be a Post (Hello, btw!)

Jan 10, 2014 13:29

I got into touch for the first time with the the BBC show Sherlock when I was in Budapest in 2011. I loved the show, I found it fascinating. Also, then, I met for the first time Benedict Cumberbatch.

But it was not until 2012, during the emission of the second season in January that I totally fall for it. I remember saying that Irene Adler's episode was my favorite for years after that. Reichenbach on the other hand: I didn't like it extremely BUT: the discussions about how he managed not to die entertained me for a (long) while.

Here is my entry at that time explaining the fall: http://violet-sounds.livejournal.com/73485.html

As you can see (*proud*) I got almost everything perfectly:
- Molly's help.
- Unexpected Moriarty's will of death (this was a tricky one, eh!)
- The bike.
- Mycroft's help.
- The ambulance building.
- Someone in the comments talked about the ball.

But Moffat & Co. played unfairly with us/me:
- First: the truck. I was wrong about the truck. Moffat planted it there for us (*the clever ones*) to fall into the idea. But I must admit I like the crash mat more, I never consider the truck bags very reliable... xD
- Second: the very complicated explanation for the guy in the other building with the gun. I may say I like my idea more, it's more simple! But I guess people overthinking it forced an answer...

So as you can see I was really waiting for the third season!

I was pretty much pleased with the first episode. Two things I loved of S03E01:

- The way it is narrated: back and forward, different versions of the fall... The rush (always a great point of the series). The funny moments.
- The relationships between characters. I think one of the biggest moments in the show is Sherlock-Mycroft conversation. It's very deep, very confident, very natural. You can really believe they've been brothers all their lifes (which says a lot about the actors!).
I was pleased when I read that season 3 will include much more of this.

In my opinion this show has only been going up since its beginning. Getting better with each episode. Obviously the creators are listening to the critics/fans, which sometimes (just sometimes, and just somethings) is a very intelligent thing to do, and here helps the show to flow naturally.

Then, you see, after S03E01, when you think it cannot get better, because is impossible, you are emotionally (almost physically) hit and beat up by S03E02, which is, to the moment, the most perfect episode in TV I have ever watched (three great writers were needed for that, no surprise :) )

[
My list of best episodes in TV history:

#3: "Three stories", S21E01, House MD.
#2: "The empty hearse", S03E01, Sherlock.
#1: "The sign of Three", S03E02, Sherlock.

My Top 5 includes a couple of Doctor WHO episodes (in case you are wondering XD)

I think I've watched S03E02 four times already. The first time in streaming, the second time from the BBC web page right after the first. (Yeah, well, I might be a bit obsessed with it, right? XD). Everything in that episode is perfect. Benedict acting there deserves the higher prize ever. I cannot stop complimenting it/him from each point of view or detail.

Btw, this is important:
One of the things that really intrigued me is the influence of Mycroft in Sherlock's thoughts. This episode revealed the huge effect he has on him and I didn't see people talking about it that much!
You know, that part, when he is thinking very fast and at the same time keeping the attention of the whole room. With Mycroft in the pulpit pressing him until Sherlock shouts:

"Not him! {with Mycroft face flying around} You! {the camera jumping to a surprised John Watson} Always you! Watson, you keep me right!"

Oh, that part is full of meaning! Very informative and straightforward.
((Why people is not screaming about that all the time since!?!!!))

Anyway, I'm pretty sure now that we are going to have much more of it in the last episode according to this and this, and I'm pretty sure that is going to make us suffer... cry... get depressed and live a long extended withdrawal for years in penance... because this is how all this joy will end right? *cries*

Eh...
*ahem*

What was your question again?
