Justin and I have discovered our favorite weekend activity...day trips into Sonoma & Napa Valley. Being Sonoma is only a 40 minute drive and another 15 to Napa, it's a pretty relaxing way to spend the day. Yesterday, it was a beautiful 75 degrees out; with the top down we enjoyed the views.
We had lunch at the El Dorado Kitchen (
http://www.hoteleldorado.com/el_dorado_kitchen.html) in Sonoma; so yummy! Our second visit...not our last.
After lunch, we took a drive into Napa and visited Cakebread Vineyard (
http://www.cakebread.com/) so we could pick up some wine. Yesterdays treat...2 bottles of the 2005 Chardonnay, 1 bottle of the 2005 Sauvignon Blanc and 1 bottle of the 2004 Pinot Noir, Carneros Napa Valley. For any of you who enjoy really tasty wine...I very much recommend. Absolutely one of my favorite vineyards in Napa.
On our way back to the city, we headed back into Sonoma and stopped at Gundlach Bundschu Winery (
http://www.gunbun.com/). Sadly, they closed just upon our arrival...an excuse for another weekend trip.
