I was part of a Death Note fanclub on deviantart, and I am very upset at them for discriminating against art. How, you ask? I submitted one of my pictures to be posted in their gallery, and they told me that they no longer accept quick sketches or if the character is unrecognizable...
This is not a scribble, and I do believe fans of L would recognize him if they saw that, even if he is chibi-fied. Before I submitted it, I asked if it was okay that there was someone not of Death Note in the pic, to which they said nothing about. So, here are some of my thoughts on this.
A. They think only Photoshop pictures are "pretty" and are worthy enough to be in the gallery. To this I say, I don't have photoshop, or any kind of computer-drawing program. Is traditional art dead now!? Just because it doesn't have the special effects and snazy colors, does not make it crap.
B. They just take what they consider pretty pictures (assuming they don't care about photoshop). To this I say, you are discriminating against artists everywhere. There are people who spend hours and hours on a drawing, and are proud of it in the end, feeling like they truely accomplished something. And maybe it doesn't stand to par with others (or photoshopper >_>), but the heart of the artist is in there, and that's what counts. Saying I did not spend time on my pic (when I did, you asses (not you, readers ^^)) is discrimination against what art truely is, to which I say, there is NO right answer for art. It's what releases you, makes you feel good inside.
I'm willing to bet the site is run by a young teen who is ignorant of both art and others. There is not one view, there are infinite views.
On a happier note, I finally beat FF3!! The Crystal Tower/ World of Darkness is so much shorter the 3rd time through, lol! So happy to beat that game, now to finish The World Ends with You. Then I think I'll work on Tales of Innocence =3
