Testing out my new icon that I created after eating an orgasmic piece of red velvet cake...I'm going to draw a pic of me and L eating said cake...mmm, haha
I said I'd write my opinion on the Death Note movie shown in American theatres, so here goes! It should be known that before going to the movie, I'd had little knowledge of what Death Note is exactly. I'd seen a few random episodes and never read the manga. I knew L and Light were characters, and Light had a shinigami, and another punky lolita girl had the Death Note too, but that was about it.
Lets talk about cons first.
The most obvious is that the movie was in English...you should've heard the groans from all the devoted fans. It wasn't too bad. I think Ryu had the best voice out of all of them. L was second best. Everyone else was average (sorry Light fans). The mom's voice was pretty funny...every time she opened her mouth, the audience laughed.
Another thing! Why didn't they give subtitles when an article of text was all over the screen? I bet you at least 75% of the audience had no idea why those headlines and sentences were important. Thanks for leaving them in the dark, dubbers. Sheesh. (yes, sometimes the text was read aloud, but that was what, 3 times out of the 10 or so that appeared?
That's it for cons! Now about pros!
The movie was awesome in general. Everyone knows that, need I say more?
I'd like to say the most important pro about seeing this kind of movie in theatres EVEN IF IT'S DUBBED. The energy of the audience gives it life. When you are watching it on the big screen surrounded by hundreds of other fans, you can feel the emotions in the room, and it's really awesome. Everyone's on a high and sharing this energy. Unfortunately I had one friend who saw it in a different way as annoying kids who need to hush ^^;
Finally, after the credits there was a whole "behind the scenes"...scene. It was fun to watch (and sexy to hear the original voices...are subtitles really that hard? But my friend brought up the good point that this is a good way to pay the American VAs)
In the end, if you missed out, that's tough luck, but you gotta catch the sequel! Coming out in some future date...
