And why am I so damn obsessed with Cat Power lately?? I got into her stuff back in 2003, saw her live last year and think she's just fantastic...
But late December/early January, I became something of a hermit. I didn't go out much at all, instead choosing to sit at home playing Cat Power for hours on end. After a month I said to a friend "That's it! My Cat Power albums are going in the bin and I'm gonna rejoin civilization!". So, I did (without putting the albums in the bin, of course). I've been going out again and it's been great. AND I've been doing it while playing Cat Power.
However, I burnt some of her stuff for a friend the other week. I call her up and see if she wants to do something on the weekend. Her response?
"Oh, I just wanna sit at home and listen to Cat Power"
- which amused me to no end
So, the moral to this story...
1. Cat Power is not only undescribably great, but also highly addictive
2. Chan Marshall turns people into hermits
3. Everybody should be listening to Cat Power
