My oh my
OK, firstly, I was quite drunk when I posted Thursday night/Friday morning. I was going to delete it, but it made me laugh, so I'll leave it there...
Well, I had quite a smashing weekend. Haven't really gone out a lot since we got back from Sydney, so it's been good to get out and get some action.
Thursday night
I'll just add that I had a cool time Thursday and drank too much. Then complained all the way home how crap life is (even though it really isn't).
Friday night
Suzy's birthday bash at Mansions. Had to work till 9 and went straight there. Z**** and his new riend came down and we went and saw Unspoken Things at the Underground, which was really cool. Never been there before. Cool venue. But there was too many scary punk kids in Rancid t-shirts - I just want to slap them all make them listen to Stooges or X-ray Spex. Or Hole. Anyway....
The band was really good and we went back to Mansions afterwards. It was pretty dead, but I love the place when it's dead and hanging with the posse was excellent! Me and Emma danced to Love Will Tear Us Apart and everyone looked at us funny. We ended up at the Cranker (don't we always end up there...) and danced to Joy Division and Iggy. Emma had to leave half way thru Lust For Life, so we said our goodbyes and off she went. She'll hopefully be back in September, but it was still sad.
So those of us who remained had another few drinks, chatted a bit then went home.
But it was a really cool night. Suz, we'll have to hang again soon!
Saturday/Saturday night
Went shopping in the city with K** on Saturday, which was good. I got a new pair of pants. And saw the coolest jacket ever...which I think I'm gonna have to go back and buy this week (even tho it's $90).
Also, went into Big Star and the PJ posters that I've been eyeing off for the past few months had been taken down and put out for people to take. But they were all ripped in half...so I went for a dig and found a roll of them! There's only 2 that are intact out of about 6, but still....I GOT NEW PJ HARVEY POSTERS!
Saturday night went and saw Hello Minnesota at the Prince Albert. It was their last gig. Theyre one of my fav local bands and it sucks that they've broken up, but the gig was really really good...and I got a HM t-shirt and CD!!
But it was weird, the first band on was made up of people who I went to school with. As a result, there was a scary amount of school people there - and crap ones, not good ones! It was like a fucking reunion! Luckily, I escapd talking to any of them...they just looked at me funny
Sunday night
Went bowling at Marion, which was uneventful. Had coffee with M***. Went back to bowling alley and loaded the video juke up with Magic Dirt, Placebo, Madonna & Hole, which was the highlight of the night! That, and a guy who was bowling next to us who...how do I put this...needed underwear with more support? He didn't leave anything to the imagination...if you know what I mean...and I couldn't help but stare ;)
So, the weekend was pretty damn good. Can't remember the last one that was this good. Plus, I got the day off work today...so I can't complain! I feel so optimistic!
