My Top 5 Disney Princesses

Dec 27, 2009 19:02

I am going to give my opinion on the best OFFICIAL Disney Princesses to have graced many, many products. Since this list will include my top five OFFICIAL Disney Princesses(heroines who are an official part of the franchise), I don't want any debates about whether Mulan or Pocahontas are princesses since they were included in the line-up.

(Let's get to the list! 8D)

   5. Jasmine(Aladdin)

Okay. I may sound like a narcissist since the main reason why I like her so much is that I relate to her. We're both kinda spoilt and rebellious. And no. I'm not biased because she's Muslim( I'm one myself.) I just love her longing for freedom and how she wants to marry for love instead of having an arranged marriage. Why is she only number 5 on this list? The outfit...it's too...revealing.
4.Pocahontas(Pocahontas)

I know many people don't like this heroine but I personally love her anyways. Even though she gets her tribe into huge trouble(like Ariel), she tries to fix what she had done by rushing to John Smith's execution and convinced her father that he had indeed taken the wrong path. This princess is also a good change since she saves her man and didn't need any saving. Not to mention that her theme song(Colours of the Wind) had some really strong and powerful messages.
3.Tiana(The Princess and the Frog)

Tiana is very different from your average Disney Princess. She is also one of the strongest. She knows just what she wants and works hard for it instead of wishing on a star. Tiana didn't even wish for a man at first( unlike Snow White or Aurora). Instead, she dreams of opening up her own restaurant. Like Pocahontas,Tiana saved the day by breaking Facilier's voodoo amulet, which resulted in his death by his 'friends' on the other side. Okay..to be fair, Tiana did need some saving during the Frog Hunters scene but unlike Ariel who DID save her prince in the middle of the story, she actually did something in the climax. Tiana is a sure win for me.
2.Belle(Beauty and the Beast)

This is definitely one princess that I can relate to. We both love to read, are seen as outcasts by our societies and were harassed by guys whom we didn't like. Belle is awesome for not taking any of the Beast's or Gaston's crap. She also faced a pack of wolves herself before the Beast came in. The very fact that she is an independent bookworm adds up to her awesomeness as a whole. I would love to have that library of her's. Belle did need some saving but she made up for it in the end when she saved the Beast by saying "I love you". An independent non-comformist, Belle is definitely one of the best Disney heroines.
1.Mulan(Mulan)

I'm pretty sure you saw it coming. I did not pick her simply because she is Chinese(I have Chinese blood from my dad's side). I picked her because she is definitely the strongest Disney woman yet. After messing up BADLY during the matchmaker's test and dishonouring her father, she decides to take her father's place in the army in order to prevent him from getting killed. THAT is a heroine right there. She risked dying in battle all because she didn't want her dad killed. I wonder if she made Captain Shang concerned about his sexuality though...XD
Selfless and independent,Mulan is definitely number 1 on my list of Disney Princesses.

Oh my God! I just realised that my top 5 list is so multi-racial. Didn't realise that. 0_o I also noticed that all of them are Daddy's girls. Wow. Now..a lot of you might be wondering: "Why isn't Ariel on your list?" Simple. I don't like her as much as the 5 girls mentioned above. Anyway, I already listed my top 5 Disney Princesses. With the inclusion of Rapunzel next year, this list might change.
