An update/explanation for those of you who have heard a little bit, and a quick rundown for those of you who know nothing about the situation at hand . . .
Wednesday around noon my dad called that my mom had been in a wreck. She was doing morning chores on the 4-wheeler and we think she hit a deep rut in the road, and lost control. A passing truck driver saw the 4-wheeler upside down in the air, but did not see her on it. It was about a 1/4 mile from the house, the truck driver called 911 and then stopped at the houses and got my aunt and uncle to let them know what happened. My uncle went out and found my mom and the ATV, and it took him and the guy that works for my dad tried to get her to lie down, but they couldn't hold her down. It wound up taking 4 men to get her restrained enough to get her in the ambulance. The EMT's decided that the situation was severe enough to warrant her being airlifted. So then it took the 4 of them to get her from the ambulance to the helicopter to sedate her before she got on. They took her to St. Francis hospital in Wichita. She has a fractured pelvis, and a really bad concussion. At this time, they're keeping her sedated because she's still violent when she's up. They're having to restrain her to keep her from pulling out the various tubes that she's attached to. They're going to try to bring her out tonight or tomorrow, because the neurosurgeon they brought in wants to see her without the sedatives. The last CAT scan showed that the bleeding in the brain the'y had seen originally had slowed, and as soon as they get the concussion under control, they'll deal with the fractured pelvis.
So, my days off were spent driving from here to Wichita and back. I'm hoping I have good news soon. So, for all of you that knew the situation, there's the story, I really wasn't up to texting that, and my signal was touch and go when I was outside of the hospital and I just left it off while I was with her in ICU and the waiting room.
For those if you that I've talked to in the past few days, thank you for keeping my mom and my family in your thoughts and prayers. For those who I haven't spoken to, well, here's the situation, so bear with me if I'm out of touch for awhile. I'll be spending a lot of time in Tonkawa and Wichita for awhile. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
I'll be in touch. Or if you've got the means, feel free to contact me . . .
