So I'm making a semicircular, top-down shawl. (For reference, it's the Guinevere from Wrap Style, if you're familiar.) It's on 6s. Just over halfway through, it has me stop and put the stitches on scrap yarn. Then I work a ruffle bottom up on 9s and attach it with a three-needle BO. Is there any structural reason that I couldn't just start knitting the ruffle top-down with the 9s? I really would prefer to contruct this thing in one piece. I figure there will be some eventual adjustment in stitch size around the join when I block it, but other than that I can't think of any reason not to do it in one piece. Let me know if you can.
