[Random Blah] Music and Ideas...Shoot Me NOW.

Oct 29, 2009 00:45

Excuse me as I spamwasteinvade your vital regions and attackpost your "Friends Page" space with my random-fandom-idea-blah-crap-of-teh-week.

A while ago, I posted this so I could vent a little and state a story idea OF WHICH I am still working on...stupid college...but, anyways...

I'm not going to say I'm a music hater; HATING MUSIC ISN'T RIGHT IN MY OPINION. I grew up on music. I sing, I play the viola, and I can hit notes on a piano. I love going to musicals, would LOVE to go to more concerts, and generally give every kind of music a chance. Sure, there are songs I don't like and will not listen again to for a long time and genres that I would rather listen to, but I still love music and the arts.

However, I dislike one part of music. And this is the part that always kills me.

I hate it when the plot bunnies strike during a song.
And you have the feeling that you HAVE to write.

This happens to me quite a lot as of late. I don't really know why.

Case Study: "Dancing in the Velvet Moon" - Mizuki Nana
As I'm typing this particular part, I'm listening to Mizuki Nana's "Dancing in the Velvet Moon", the first ending song to Rosario+Vampire. I LOVE this song. (Anything Japanese and Gothic-sounding is good in my book.) When I first listened to this in early September, I instantly related it to one of my OCs, Haruhi-chan. Haruhi, despite being in elementary school, already has her fashion based around gothic/gothloli. She is also crazy when it comes to love, considering that her first boyfriend, Sou-chan, is older than her by three years. Therefore, the mood of the song instantly connected to her. When I read the lyrics, again, they could pertain to her when she grows up and is with her second boyfriend (not spoiling this...but let's say the age gap is wider...).

However, as I listen to it now, could someone explain to me WHY I'M IMAGINING SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN RELATION TO THIS SONG...AND WHY I'M NOT FANGIRLING OVER THE SMEX?

I'm serious. Being in multiple fandoms is scary at times. Sometimes, thing will want to cross and pertain to multiple fandoms. I hope that "Dancing" won't become the next victim to my cross-fandom squee.

----

Speaking of crossing fandoms, and this DOES count, how about my obsession with Hetalia and VOCALOID? These two have crossed paths too many times for my personal liking (and don't get me started with Nihonoid...HIMARUYA-SENSEI DID THAT HIMSELF. AND ROMAHETA? MIKU SHOWS UP!!!!). But, in my head, little Hetalia plot bunnies like to screw around with the Vocaloid songs and create interesting combinations.

Case Study: Cenerentola, a fanfiction by yours truly
This is a Hetalia fanfiction I posted earlier this month. It had initially started with the original idea of what I knew of Italy's history during WWII. Around this time, I finally figured out what Hatsune Miku and the other VOCALOIDs were ("It's not a game? It's a computer program? For making music? Seriously?"). I was looking for more songs (having become obsessed with "Cantarella"), and then I found the song "Cendrillon", sung by the VOCALOIDs Hatsune Miku and KAITO. Well...the two came together and created the fanfic now out for the world to see. However, I was not pleased with how Cenerentola ended. I'm a whore for happy endings. The occasional angst and drama is good, but ALL OF MY STORIES HAVE HAPPY ENDINGS. Therefore, a sequel is being planned (I'm looking at you,  gothic_tampons!), but this one is loosely stealing ideas from "Regret Message"! And "Magnet"? Although the premise of the song is different, I think it still connects to it somehow.

The sequel? It's still on. I'll write it after I clean up Cenerentola.

Yeah...it's almost one in the morning...and I have a class at eleven...and I LIKE my sleep. Night all! Sorry for bothering you. I needed to rant and this was easiest.
