Jesus Christ Superstar rant
ok.. i'm a loser who sits home alone on saturday nights. and tonight i figured since nobody was here to be annoyed by it, i would watch a cheesy musical on demand. i was actually gonna watch The Others, but i saw the Jesus Christ Superstar was only available until 7/3 and since i had never seen it before, i watched it. yeah, it's surprising that i had never seen it, being a broadway geek and a Jesus freak, but really, i hadn't. so i watch it. and for the record, it's not a "musical" it's a "rock opera." and the music does, indeed, rock. for a musical. heh. so, i'm watching, i'm singing along, i'm digging the hippies. i'm amused that Jesus is white, Peter is blonde, Judas is black, and Mary Magdalene is Asian. most have hair to their ass, many have afros. it's very 70s. and the entire time, i am waiting for the wondrous ending i think is coming. and then they crucify Jesus. and then the hippies get on the friggin bus and go. and they NEVER SHOW THE RESURRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was apalled. they kill Jesus, and it's just over. my jaw actually dropped during the credits, while i thought to myself, "Tim Rice you fuckin IDIOT you missed the whole point!"
