Ok, it is so definately time for an update it isn't even funny.
This weekend I went to Lamberts and it was one of the most amazing experiences of the summer. I went with Christine, Jason, Kevin, Andrew, and Ben. It was about a two hour drive in Jason's Navigator and I had the extreme pleasure of riding in the back because there wasn't enough space but whatever I'd ride back there again. We played a lot of travel games like Categories and Never Have I Ever to pass the time and they were mildly amusing. But the main event was Lamberts. We had to wait like an hour and half to get seated, so Jason, Andrew and I went looking for some pop. We saw cacti and a pink car along the way but I don't think any pictures were taken so all I have are those precious memories.
So now let me try to describe this fantastic place...You walk in and there are license plates and other things on the walls. A woman was playing ragtime on the piano. People walk around throwing rolls and passing out fried okra, black eyed peas, potatoes and onions, macaroni and tomoatoes, and something else that I didn't get. You also order a meal and get 2 sides. I got catfish with mashed potatoes and green beans. Jason and I also split the chicken and dumplings, which was a mistake because that was way too much food. Jason also had the frog legs and I've resolved to order those next time. So after we ate, we all left completely full. Thank God Jason was able to stay awake driving because we all fell asleep at some point during the drive back.
After that, I went to a cookout Saturday night at Schroeder's apartment. It was very fun and the food was delicious again. Not much else to say except that it was fun.
Today I went to the food court and ate with Sally. She called me during my tour and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" went off cuz its one of my phone rings. That was slightly embarassing, but what can I say...its a good song. The grumpy lady with the gold teeth really opening up when I mentioned Lamberts, cuz Lamberts is her favorite place to eat...she went there for her birthday. She likes the baked beans and the fried okra. Maybe baked beans are the thing I didn't get while they were passed around. Or perhaps baked beans were one of the sides you had to order. I dont know. I was just amazed at how friedly she was. She's the reason I titled this entry what I titled it.
After that, I went to the pool with Kim and we planned our 80's party. We discovered that we were both Tina Turner fans. She's gonna dress up like Tina with the big hair, heels, spandex pants and big white shirt. I'm going as the punk with a black t-shirt, jeans, and spiked hair. I think the costume needs a pack of cigarettes to be complete, but I don't smoke so I don't think I'm gonna add that to the costume. We're very pumped. After working on our tans (cuz I'm pasty as hell) we went to Target and McDonalds. I bought "What's Love Got To Do With It" which is like the Tina Turner story, starring Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishbourne. It was amazing. I'm so glad Kim recommended it to me. After that we watched Flashdance to get in the 80's mode. It wasn't as good. But oh well. We also had a little war on our walls with quote and song lyrics. So now there are these huge posts. I love them.
Well that's about it. Tomorrow I have another tour and a 10 hour shift. Then Kim and I are gonna watch White Chicks finally and some other movie I can't remember the name of. Friday we go buy our 80's costumes. I'm psyched!
Until then, always follow your dream no matter how crazy or against the law it is and remember you don't need a machine to make a rainbow (thanks meatwad)
