Beautiful Day
When he finds her and starts to annoy her with no intentions on ever stopping, she likes to get the hell away from him every chance that she gets.
When a ridiculous amount of fans find him, she likes to roll her eyes and walk away without being noticed because he's too busy paying attention to them.
When he tries to steal her snackoos from her, she throws them at his face and leaves him to eat them off of the floor if he chooses to do so.
When his best friend and his brother are put in jail and killed for their crimes, she frowns and she cries and she prays--even when he supposedly means nothing to her.
And she finds it difficult to think that the sun is shining, even when his life is not hers to live and suffer in.

When she fumes and curses at him as she walks away, he can only smile and watch and he never takes his eyes off of her until she's completely out of sight (but not out of mind).
When she can't stand being by the crowd of people around him, he watches and yells out to her, saying that he'll give her his autograph eventually, but she doesn't hear him.
When things just are going her way, he listens even when she doesn't really want him to and he anticipates their next encounter with each other and he hopes that he'll bring her good luck next time.
When his best friend and his brother are put in jail and killed for their crimes, he thinks that all he has is her.
And he finds it difficult to dream of angels on the moon, because the angel there despises him and the moon can't be their safe haven because of that.

She believes that she's the conversation, and that he's the game.
She hears them talk about her to him about how she's so rude and so unforgiving and incapable of caring, of loving.
She doesn't usually mind, because his reaction is just nods and smiles as if he knows the truth (and he doesn't, she knows, and that's all right with her). She doesn't usually mind, because he has his game of life to live, and he's usually winning, overcoming every single obstacle thrown in his path and even exceeded the expections given to him.
But now is different. He's losing. He's back to the starting point, and those who helped him get closer and closer to victory before are gone.
And now, she cares about what the others say to him--because he can go to her and she will listen and she will help, but he won't if there's even the slightest doubt in his mind about who he really thinks she is.
So she finds him--alone, so utterly alone--and she vows not to leave until he smiles, even if it's only faint.
*
He's not God's angel, he knows--because how many innocent lives has he sent to prison to rot and suffer for crimes that they haven't committed? How many peoples' hearing has he shattered to the point where they can't even listen to their own voice anymore?
Still, he doesn't understand what he's done to deserve this Hell.
He doesn't understand what he's done to deserve this Heaven with her by his side, either.
He's found just lying on the ground, unable to do anything but stare past the floor to Hell, wondering if they're really, really down there like everyone says that they are. And suddenly, his view is blocked by her two hands and he's shot back to reality, but he doesn't feel like the world is crashing down on him again, doesn't feel like the ground will come alive and swallow him as if to tell him that if he's taken away from from everyone and everything he knows, it won't matter to anyone or anything at all.
So he looks up at her to see what exactly is going on. He sees her bloodshot eyes that tell him that she's sorry, and he suddenly knows and he can't help but smile just because she's there, and she does the same, too, knowing that she's been forgiven.
And for the first time in a while, they both agree that it's a beautiful day.
