This (Will Never) Change
Manfred was well aware that things would always, always be changing for him as a prosecutor and for Gant, since he was, after all, the chief of police.
The defendants' names and faces would change, and their stories would be different. The defense attorneys would never be the same as each one soon fled and feared for their jobs and their clients, and the method to expose the inevitable truth varied from trial to trial, case to case. The police force members would change constantly, as some lost their lives on the line and others quit or were fired.
But Manfred was also well aware that the one thing that would always, always stay the same was Gant showing up at his house in his swimming suit and saying Manny, I'm going to borrow your pool for a while at the most random times only to have a (fake) confused and horrified stare given in response.
(And Manfred would never, ever say so out loud, but he didn't really mind.)
