Ball and Chain
Anyone would say that this is just a hat, a useless piece of trash.
Sanji completely disagrees, but he's not (entirely) sure why.
It's just the hat that he first refused to wear at the Davy Back Fight, the strange hat with the ball on top of it, after all. He also wonders why he left it in this box to rot and he wonders how he forgot all about it. And as he dusts it off and twirls it around in his hands he sees the red stripes--
--the endless seas of blood on their hands that intertwined so tightly that day to form one heart, one soul, one goal--
--and the white stripes--
--their undying devotion to save their nakama, because they were so pure, so good, undeserving of those cheating pirates--
--and the strap that kept it secure on his head--
--the strap that kept his sanity from flying away from him, the strap that gave them the win and so many smiles, so many future days full of hope and joy--
--he suddenly knows why he forgot, why he refuses to let go.
He didn't want to remember the first time that he and Zoro and no one else had worked together and actually succeeded, because he didn't want to admit to something like cooperating with that shitty swordsman.
It's still best left forgotten, he thinks, and he grins without knowing as he puts it back in the box and walks away without looking back.
(But that doesn't mean that it leaves his mind again.)
