Don't Follow Me
I don't need to see through this useless mask of mine to see you standing in the court, your breath shallow and your heart mangled because of me. I don't need my hearing to be fixed to know that you're telling lies that could destroy you even more.
And no one needs to tell me that that sorry excuse for a lawyer that you admire so much knows everything. He knows that you're protecting somebody. He knows that you aren't going to give up on purpose, and he knows that you're not going to like the verdict that will be given.
He knows, and he cares, sure, but that isn't going to stop him from pressing and making you speak of that dreadful night. You know that he knows, and you don't know what you think anymore. I also know that he knows--but I don't care at all.
I don't want you to lie for me, because that means that you'll be punished. I don't want to be pitied, don't want my life to be saved because of some supposed heroic deed I did--because I only came to rescue you because of anger, because of the desire to make up for my sins. I didn't feel a thing when you screamed, didn't care if I was killing someone close to you.
If I could tell you to stop, I would--but this is your final battle to fight and I don't feel that I have the right to interfere anymore.
All I can do is hope that you won't end up following me home.
All I can do is hope that you won't end up following me to Hell.
