Tied Together With A Smile
She's never seen him smile so much or so easily before.
She doesn't know what it is that's made this possible. She doesn't know if it's the reunion with Tormod and his friends or if it's because of them rising above the challenge handed to them in their latest fight or if it is simply because he is still alive and breathing without wounds suffocating each and every part of his weary body. She decides that it doesn't matter, really--because the smiles are there and they're more real than they have ever been, and although they're oddly crooked, they're perfect in their own way. His mouth isn't turned upward with the aching desire to turn downward immediately once more because it hurts so much, because it is so fake. His eyes are clearly bright and there's an obvious and passionate fire dancing within them and he doesn't try to turn around and hide his embarrassed face when she points this out, because he's proud of it all and he knows that she is, too.
And while she's so busy wondering about this newfound joy of his, she doesn't realize that she's never smiled so much or so easily before, either.

She's never seen him smile so much or so easily before.
