For those of you who don't know...I have a little sister. Her name is Taylor and she's the cutest little button. I'll confess when she first arrived my nose was a bit out of joint for I was no longer the youngest, and my father's attention towards me had shifted a bit. I suppose this happens in many familys, but when you're 27 years of age and you're suddenly thrown a new born sibling, things can get a little awkward.
As time went by, and the little lady grew however, my heart began to soften to her..and continued to do so every time I visited. She now knows who her older sister is, and now crawls excitedly to the door squealing whenever she sees me. Little darling.
She will be having her first birthday at the end of November...and I've promied to buy her a pony ;) (My step mother is not as enthusiastic about the idea considering the amount of injuries both Eitan and myself suffer..but I shall prevail with the idea until she wears down)
Another new addition to the family is Titan, a rescued ex-pacer bound for the knackery due to the fact he had finished his racing career and the owner just didn't give a damn about him. As you all know, I have a habit of rescuing animals in need, and my Titan was no exception. He's a beautiful boy, very sooky and loving, but also extremely shy. Because ex-pacers are treating so harshly while on the track, Titan requires special care. I've also had to teach him that it's ok to walk, trot and canter, instead of pace (an awkward movement they are beaten into submission into doing by their trainers). This process normally takes months to achieve, however because Titan and I formed such a strong bond I had him cantering and galloping around in only 2 weeks. The people at our horsie property couldn't believe it! While he's still got a few little things to learn, my boy is going ahead in leaps and bounds..and will be ready for the trails in less than a month.
The only downside to Titans arrival is our other boy, Ruler (aka arrogant bastard). There has always been a rift between ex race horses and ex pacers...call it racism if you will..and Titan was not greeted by his new paddock pal with welcome arms (er...hooves). Ruler, upon seeing Titan, instantly went into attack mode..I've never seen anything like it. Ruler had always been good with other horses, but then again he had never been introdcued to an ex pacer/Standardbred. It was like introducing two Stallions to eachother...Ruler reared up and kicked Titan in the head, and then instantly went into full attack mode, biting him and body slamming him from a full gallop. Poor little Titan didn't know what to do, and just hid behind me (yay..I get Ruler's wrath) shaking. Eventually we had no choice but to seperate them.
Things have calmed down a little since then, and the two boys have bonded, however they're still not 100% and come feed time, we see a little "stallion" in Ruler.
Ruler explaining to "mum" that the new horse is a jerk..(he bit my face shortly after this picture was taken...gosh he's sweet)
