you know what, i'm so tired of people being so fucking ignorant
how can you say you're so concerned about the people in new orleans when you're sitting around on your dry, safe ass complaining about the price of gas. sure, i've stated the fact that i can't afford to drive aimlessly anymore, but i mean have a little bit of patience here.
almost a quarter of our fuel came from the gulf coast. when it was flooded they got closed down and we no longer had our own source of fuel. don't bother complaining about the "asshole gas station people" or the war, because you don't know what you're talking about.
i think i can cope with the fact that i won't be able to go out as much seeing as my town is still intact. a lot of people don't understand that new orleans is almost completely gone. bourbon street... gone. the city was just wiped out. students at university of new orleans and tulane had to be re-located to other campuses, and UNO is almost completely destroyed. we're talking a whole university. to me, those buildings are ones that seem... indestructible. imagine a while university campus around here just being wiped out. it's just insane.
and now people are trapped in flooded towns, and they're beginning to have problems with crocodiles and poisonous snakes in the water. it's like something out of a nightmare. people are being raped, robbed, shot... even children. Thousands of people are dead. it's just really sad.
obviously it will take a lot of time and money to re-build and whatnot, but people really need help now. it's hard to believe that after all this terrible stuff that people are going through, on top of it they don't have food and water and necessities.
donate to the red cross... i did. don't sit around and think you can't make a big donation so there's no point, donate whatever you can afford to. i donated at the supermarket, but there's plenty of places you can go or donate on the internet.
