1930s. Models for Grant Wood's Painting 'American Gothic'
Posing with Grant Wood’s American Gothic, one of the most famed U.S. paintings of its generation, are the models: Nan Wood Graham, the painter’s sister, wife of an oil-station operator, and Dr. B.H. McKeeby, their dentist. The models sat separately for the painting and never stood in front of the house.
