Is minnie short for Minerva?

I just looked through the genealogy for the Smiths and all entries say Minnie Mae Smith. So I think she just might be Minnie by birth.

After going through all the photos, I think I look most like Minnie. And when I was a toddler I looked just like Minnie's sister Alice. Although I found a later picture of Alice (she's in the big group shot from yesterday) and she doesn't look as much like me as Minnie does.
