When the nuns stopped to be real nuns?:)) I'm really interested!!! Because here in Russia, I know a lot of very good real nuns, whom I respect enormously.
Do the nuns in Russia still wear habits? In the US, they are dressed in street clothes, so you might not recognize them as nuns at first. If you grew up with very strict nuns, you might want to see them coming ;-D
Oh yes, they always wear habits in the convent, and when they walk on the streets. Here in the monasteries there are different kinds of habits: there are nuns in Russian called "shimnik", I don't know how in English- they have very strict vow and wear specific habits. Anyway, I don't know the monasteries in which you can not wear habits.
