Post-mortem photos were kept to remember and sent to relatives that could not make the long hard trip to attend the funeral. Back in victorian times, people almost always took pictures of passed loved ones in order to remember them, so what is the difference when it comes to our pets, after all, dogs are like family and are loved in the same way.
