I don't know everything about what you are going through medically, but one of the things I have noticed with my blood pressure was that my kidneys played a big part in my BP being so high. When my new cardiologist put me on a small dose of diuretic, it made a huge improvement on my stats.

A diuretic is something that's crossed my mind already. I should have asked but I'll bring that up to the dr next week. Thanks!

The American Heart Association puts out a great low sodium cookbook. Its going to taste funny, cutting sodium down, but if they want to do it that book will give you some recipes to help you do so without killing all of the taste.

And, after you get used to it, it won't bug you so much.

Every other spice under the sun is going to become your best friend. Also, red and green peppers. Its amazing how much flavor they add to a dish.
