So just a couple of things, possibly more:

1.) Somebody posted a inquiry about setting lotion earlier:

Yesterday was the end of a year long search for setting lotion. Seriously, I thought it was something that you could only find in like a fancy hair salon or something. I went to Sally's in search of it only to get a confused look by the lady behind the counter. But in the last post about setting lotion, somebody mentioned something about looking in the ethnic hair section. That is the last place on earth I would have ever looked to find it, because well...my hair is the opposite of ethnic (being ethnic myself). It's as straight as pin and I can't do anything with it, so why bother ever going into that section of the hair aisle, right?

Here's where the interesting part comes in: I live on campus with three roommates, all of them african american and me being latina. I mentioned what I read about the setting lotion to one of them and she was like "yeah, I had some...don't you remember? that blue bottle you saw me throw away?" After that I was kind of mad that didn't think to look at the bottle before she threw it away, but I went out and bought what I thought was the right setting lotion. I made a mistake. When I showed her the bottle, she immediately laughed and shared the story with my other roommate, who than later told me that she too had just recently thrown way a bottle of setting lotion. To make matters worse, my third roommate said "hey, I have some too, in fact I used it when I rolled your hair that one time remember?"

Moral of the story: Think outside the box. Or, as one of them pointed out, "think outside the race dummy." One of them took me out to a salon yesterday that had some. I even got the Lottabody brand that everybody is always talking about:

2.) Going to a concert a week from today in Atlanta, and I decided to do a hairstyle that's probably not the smartest idea to do when rocking out. Hence, I'm practicing in advanced, but I'm not posting pictures (yet, if at all) to reserve judgement until later. It's basically two victory rolls and either a.) bettie bangs or b.) another roll in the front between the two. Since my hair is starting to grow out of its short style, it has been a very very very long time since I've done Victory Rolls. I'll just get straight to my question: when you ladies do your Victory rolls, what kind of product, if at all (I know less if none at all is more) do you use to keep it smooth looking? I'm currently using "molding wax" which I'm pretty sure I recall seeing someone else using it in either a post or video or something I saw earlier. I used to use it back in the day and I'm comfortable with it, and for right now it seems to make the roll appear smoother than it does when I hairspray it first. However, I am open to other opinions, the more the merrier =)

3.) And just a random thought I had the other day:

I cannot express how extremely thankful I am to be a part of a wonderful community that I would never think would be possible in these current times. (Would go on a rant about how dumb certain hairstyles are that the kids are sporting nowadays, but will hold back because I do not want to offend some). I used to think I was crazy being the only kid in middle school and high school that was fascinated with vintage hair, makeup, clothes, etc. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that I am forever thankful that someone out there decided to stand up and make a community for those that I would say are most creative than the average person. I'm inspired every day when I peek at what's going in here, motivated to do things I probably would never have done and honestly would have been lost attempting to do them if it wasn't for such a wonderful community.

Just thought I'd let you guys know how I feel. =)
