Back!
It's a necessary, folded thing
Surviving on air, moisture,
A dark thing, but only because
It remains hidden.
They cannot use the word 'love'
For they do not know if they mean it.
Remus, in his imaginings, means it.
Sirius's imaginings are
Vibrant, surrendering needs
Not prone to words.
If need and love are linked,
He has
Too much of it.
Everyone knows that's just
Not how it works.
So Remus goes and makes
Something official, Something
Else, and what was barely
Smoke in air, a sweet scent,
Is harder still to capture
Fleeting on currents of
Time past. Sirius Black works
So well as a memory that one might wonder:
Was he ever more?
Except that somewhere, his
Soul is a necessary, folded
Thing, dark and hidden and
Surviving like a vivid brushstroke
Made by an ancient hand.
Remus asked himself,
What was real, and what
Is imaginary?
But in posing the question, he has
Answered.
Yet after all the lies there is
This one remaining truth:
Sirius is dead.
Remorse will not
Bring him back!
