Are they open to the public, or did you manage to connect with someone on a restoration team? I can't find anything about hours open on the website.
I have a long history of working with the Computer History Museum in Mountain View,CA, and am a member of the 1401 restoration team (http://ibm-1401.info/). It's great to see these machines coming back to life.

I'm wondering if you were the gentleman I met when I was down there in Sunnyvale in January, yes, they are open for tours, by appointment, just use the info form, and you can arrange a tour, I was lucky to meet Rich Alderson at the vintage telephone museum. They have a NOS 29 Card Punch, still in its original packing crate.

Not likely, since I'm female ;) I haven't been active for a while, too busy setting up a Digital Game Museum. Thanks for the tour information - I'll have to check it out next time I'm in Seattle.

Thanks for the kind words! ext_432955 February 17 2011, 19:37:00 UTC
We're happy that Robert was able to visit, and look forward to many future visitors.

A couple of minor corrections to Robert's captions:

1. The DECsystem-1090 is not running at present, and is used mostly for diagnostics when we do operate it. We do have ITS running, on a smaller system, a DECSYSTEM-2020 which is not currently connected to the Internet.

(NB: Those are the official capitalizations in the system documentation from Digital Equipment Corporation, not "shouting".)

2. The TU78 tape drives are connected to the DECSYSTEM-2065, which is our 24x7 Tops-10 system. The Toad-1 has a SCSI tape drive which is visible to its left in this picture.

Just want to keep things straight, so we don't confuse anyone!
