i'm not afraid of love, as long as it's with you.

you are there, i'm not afraid

The sun dips closer to the horizon,
splashes of colour fill the sky.
Purples, pinks, oranges, and blues.
A breeze whips through my hair,
refreshingly cool and sweet.
My beating heart is calmed
when your warm hand finds mine,
swinging back and forth in unison
as we walk along the shore.

The sand beneath tickles our toes,
footprints line up behind us
like a trail of marching ants.
Water rises, the tides ever changing
as it climbs higher up,
its rushing melody soothes my ears,
brings me joy.

A tug on my hand, you lead me
down to the water’s edge.
A playful shove, I find myself
wet and spluttering, surrounded
by the vast ocean.
My bewilderment is broken
by a bright, familiar sound.
I turn to see you laugh.
I laugh with you.
