So, red or green?

Hmm, that is a very good question. My answer changes depending on:

1)The entree I'm eating.
2)The restaurant I'm eating at, because some restaurants do red better or green better (or the mood I'm in when I'm making it at home).
3)Whether the red or the green is hotter that day (and the mood I'm in, like, do I want it hot or am I in a more timid frame of mind)
4)The mood I'm in. :-)

If I'm eating at Tomasita's in Santa Fe, I ALWAYS get the green. Combination burrito, green chile, sour cream, sopaipillas with honey butter. I crave it. It is manna of the gods.

If I'm eating chicken enchiladas, I'll usually get green, though sometimes I'm in a red kind of mood. If I'm eating huevos rancheros, it's usually red. Burritos can go either way, depending on the factors above.

And there are days when I simply cannot decide, and I'll say, "Christmas, please!" and get both! :-)

Ohh, Tomasita's, yuuuummmmmmm! Haven't eaten there in a couple of years -- haven't been getting down to Santa Fe as much these days. But I have fond memories of many good meals eaten there!

I'm usually a green, myself, but when I lived in Albuquerque and was getting burritos from Los Betos at Lomas & San Mateo, they had a red chile sauce that was fantastic.

Sadly, when I visited last fall, Los Betos seems to be no more (there's a Greek restaurant there now.) They did the best breakfast burritos.

You lived in ABQ! Me too--and now I'm in the East Mountains. What a small world! You know, I never did eat at Los Betos. I thought that they were doing both Greek and Mexican but maybe it's just Greek now. Hmm.

I am so sad Los Betos is gone. Their salsa was so freakin' amazing.
