So, after a year-long hiatus of having a paid account and userpic extension, I have it back ( Read more... )

I make a lot of my own using the "create userpic" feature and a photo, but they often don't turn out well. I think I got most of mine either at iconomicon or snagged them from random people here.

I do a lot of snagging too. I even saw some of yours that caught my attention. The perks of the communities, for my ADHD brain, is the near-constant flow of new, shiny images that I can save and forget I have until months or years later haha.

I'll check out the community you linked to. :D

Feel free to snag any of mine. :)

That community hasn't posted in years, but the icons are still all up. They have quirky and unusual ones, that's what I liked about it.

I saw that it has been almost 10 years since there was a post, but I plan on combing through the posts to find new ones. :)

I will! Same to you, if there are any that you like (I'll be uploading a lot more). I try to give credit when possible.

Thanks, I'll look! I have so many userpics with a permanent account and don't even use most of them since I'm kinda picky about my userpics. And yes, I give credit too whenever I know the maker.

I wish I had a permanent account. The last time I remember it being offered, I could barely afford to exist, so it was out of the question, and I haven't seen it since. :'(

I know, they stopped offering them when SUP took over LJ from SixApart. :(

Yeah it's crap too. I'd pay good money for a permanent account. As it is, I told Kalen that I'm keeping it set to auto-renew yearly. Previously I'd opt for a one time payment. He makes enough. We're well enough off that we can afford the $50 USD for a yearly subscription.

I got my permanent account for just $150 back in 2007, or even 2006. Then they steeply raised the prices each year until the last time they were offered, they cost $350 a pop. So that was a really good investment I was able to make early.

I think it was 2006 that I last remember looking, and at the time I was working for a group of attorneys making a whole $7.25/hr (you know, federal minimum wage in America to this day), and at the time I was also smoking about a pack of cigarettes a day, severely overdrawing my bank account, and trying to make a car payment on a car I couldn't afford but needed. It was not a good time, financially. $150 was so out of reach for me that it's sad to think about now.

I was also spending my money on tattoos and piercings and alcohol - oops? lol.

I'm just kidding and teasing with this userpic, because that's where most of my money went too in my teens and 20's. That and tobacco! And street drugs! :D

I didn't drink too much, but I was drinking at bars so it was infinitely more expensive. True story - when we were in Germany, I had ZERO alcoholic beverages haha. They tend to fuck with my blood sugar, so I don't drink much. Love a Radler, though.

And, I love Bowie (and his bulge). May he rest in peace.

I was a full-blown alcoholic by age 14, and addicted to various drugs for several years even before I hit my 20's. Believe me, that's no way to live!

I love Bowie too. RIP, Sir!

No, it's not. Alex's bio mom is an addict (she openly told the judge she won't quit smoking marijuana), which is part of why she lost custody (it's not legal in Indiana). She also continuously tested positive for meth and cocaine and heroine. So...not good. I feel for her, I really do.

2016 was a rough year - Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince, and Trump was elected.
