ever since i was a wee lad i've had daydreams of "science" -- you describe pretty much exactly what I envisioned.

Yeah, this pretty much fits my childhood daydreams, too. And I do love it so very much.

http://usacomicbooks.stores.yahoo.net/geent.html shall be art of my Halloween costume, as I work at a company with a similar logo.

I am searching for an appropriate lab coat and a plastic Erlenmeyer or other easily-identifiable labware. It must be plastic, or the office safety people will be annoyed.

Any suggestions for purveyors of either? Or do you deal strictly with high-volume suppliers?

I've never seen a plastic Erlenmeyer flask, but all of the graduated cylindars we use are plastic. You could also do something like a test tube rack with some 15mL conical tubes with colored water in them, perhaps? I could maybe send you a few used ones that have held only water, if I can do so without bending or breaking rules. I think a graduated cylindar for your beverage would be just AWESOME. Well, if you got it new, that is. You couldn't pay me enough to ingest something out of a used one at our lab; aside from wrecking rules of common sense, I know what's been in those things - scary! ;)

As far as purveyors of such goods, I am not in charge of procurement at the lab, outside of fish room equipment; we go through Aquatic Eco-Systems for fish room stuff, and though they do sell such items as test tube racks and lab coats (at higher prices than the folks our lab manager uses), I believe they sell only to research facilities, fish farms, and the like. I'll poke around and see what I can find out.
