Just a pure rant, and a Tech Support moment.

Okay, so, if you know me, you likely know that I work in Tech Support.

Also, you may or may not agree with this, but when it comes to helping folks via phone, I have all the patience of a stone. I can take most anything that gets thrown at me.

I enjoy a lot of it, actually. I think that's kinda self-abusive or masochistic, considering the crap I have to take, but I do enjoy it. The rewards of actually helping someone who wants/needs it is really payoff enough, but I also enjoy the adrenaline rush when someone REALLY pisses me off.

Like today.

....

Dude calls in, a process with his domain has failed. A rep from his registrar is also on the line. Right off the bat, Dude is impatient and won't listen to any questions that his registrar's rep or I ask him. We both have to repeat ourselves a few times just to get the information we need. At one point, the registrar rep had asked Dude three times what his domain name was - I finally broke in again and forcefully said, "Dude, would you please tell him your domain name so we can help you?" Dude finally stated the domain name. Then Dude started getting all ballistic on us and yelling, even screaming, how he wanted this done NOW, not in a few days, not blah-blah-blah, and would not stop screaming, seems to love his own voice. I had to nearly yell to get him to hear me over his narcissistic hollering, "Dude, don't scream on the phone, we are trying to HELP you. If you scream on the phone, I'm not going to be able to help you, and I'll have to end the call." He stopped yelling for a bit, but very shortly after, say, 30-45 seconds, he started in again. "Dude, you're yelling again. I will end the call if you can't keep it professional and stop screaming." Dude chilled, only to start screaming again in some seconds' time. "Dude, I am ending this call because you are yelling again." Click.

....

I've played this down a lot; it was actually a very infuriating call. I've only ever ended a call once before. Typically, people aren't asses, they're just obnoxious or annoying. I mean, how often do you call a person for help, and then scream at them *repeatedly*, and expect them to help you?

I tend to treat everyone decently until they mistreat me, at which time they can go screw themselves. I have oodles of patience, but not for abuse.

Grrrr.

At least these sorts of things make my day more exciting!!

On another note, I've stained my fingers with tasty aggregate drupelet juice. I looooooove wild blackberries.

frustration, work, tech support, berries
