there is still a big industry for these around here. They are sold as tornado shelters. I live in oklahoma. We've had our fill of tornados, but the shelters are built just like the bomb shelters.

There is a now a strip mall at that address in Sacramento. I wonder if they filled in the shelter or not. (There's a game store in the complex; I can only think of how excited they would be to use that space for tournaments.)

My development dates from 1961. I always wondered if there was one under our backyard. We hit cement on day digging but it was only a bracing pad for the swing set the previous owners had. :(
