I found a whole little selection of weight control adverts over at http://www.boredpanda.com - and it was very interesting to note that weight loss wasn't always as desirable as it is today - there were quite a few weight gain ads too !! The weight loss aids however, were sometimes a little frightening - my favourite was this :-
