So Thanksgiving has come and passed, and now we're onto the Christmas season, for better or for worse. Me? I enjoy the holidays (except for the music.)
I spent my weekend out in the Fort, as I've been wont to do lately. Must be a good reason for it...I had a magnificent if untraditional Thanksgiving with
tekfox and
llamaslug that began with lazed cleaning and pushed through to an early and unsatisfying dinner at Black Eyed Pea followed by some night sushi. The evening ended with musical revelations pertaining to Acid Crunk Vol. 2 and Explosions In The Sky's All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone (it's a journey home...)
Outside of that day we enjoyed a mostly lazy weekend (although we killed our bodies,) figuring out that as good as our collective was at deciphering the meaning behind the music, we were equally poor at 3-player Mario Bros. Wii, that cutting the line in front of old people at Best Buy might lead to confrontation, that fake accents can still be sexy...the usual.
My trip was punctuated by a dinner with the two previously-mentioned folks plus a
direwolf23, who was home Sunday evening from Kansas City. We talked a little about the year gone by, and I noted that it was probably the best of my life, largely due to those who were sitting there with me...I can't express how grateful I am to be able to know such wonderful people.
As for 2009, I wasn't lying; I would call it the best of my (short) life thus far. While it seems as though it has flown by, I can look back and say that there's been so much packed into the year, I can't quite imagine how that happened. It just doesn't seem like 6 months have passed since I first took a flight to Denver International, first took a flight to Midway, to say nothing of the great times had in Atlanta and Florida earlier in the year. I've learned so much about myself, and my perceptions of the world, of emotion, of spirituality have been radically altered, mostly for the better, but I could even marvel at the depths of emotion in the negative instances. As The Hold Steady noted, "We've had some massive highs, we've had some crushing lows, man we've had some massive nights..."
And there's still a month to go!
2010 looks bright as well: a new business and life in Ft. Collins are so very close. No doubt the year will bring new friends and new experiences, and who could say no to those?
Currently I'm hanging out in Pelham, spending some time with
tervicz ...not sure where to after this. Seattle, maybe?
