I have a new apartment!

Though more accurately, I have two apartments at the moment, since the one I'm in now is paid up to the 25th of August. I spent all day yesterday dragging my stuff over there on the trains. It's a pain in the ass, but it's better than having a room full of boxes until I hire someone to move my few pieces of furniture. I prefer moving the small stuff myself. It helps me not feel lazy.

My new roommate seems like a nice guy. Real laid back. He teaches language arts to fourth graders, which to me seems like a terrible version of hell, but to each his own, I suppose. The apartment is also nice. My room is a little smaller than the place I'm in now, but the closet is so unbelievably huge that I could just put all my crap in there and have all kinds of floor space. Also, there is a lot more common area space. We have rooms that don't even have a particular function. They're just there. A rarity in Boston area apartments. And on top of it all I get to drop a roommate. I think it will be better living with only one other person. And since he's a teacher his work schedule will be consistent and predictable, so that's a plus.

The basement where I'll be doing my laundry looks like the set for a horror movie. I'm so excited for my first laundry day where I won't have to walk down the block, picking up all the socks I lost the last time around.

There's a fish tank, which I'm not a fan of. I guess I just won't look at it. Fish are so lame.

Also, I'll be farther out in the "suberbs" now, which does mean I won't be able to walk to the grocery store or such things anymore, but it will be worth it to get some peace and quiet. No more drunken Boston College kids getting in fights outside my window at 4am and then throwing up on the stoop. I'm sooooo happy about that.

But no worries, I'm still within easy walking distance to a dunkin donuts. If I wasn't I'd know I'd really moved too far out. So I can still get my late night iced coffee fix.
