Well, not much going on. L and Sabrina, the other roomies, went to Lake Tahoe this week and have been gone, so I've been watching over Carpathia, L's netherland dwarf rabbit. She's cute, but can be a real bitch. Anyways, tuesday one of the lightrail munis derailed underground. Now, to get to work, I take the L line two blocks away. And it goes above gound for 20 blocks (approx) before it reaches the area called West Portal, where it goes underground. From West Portal, it takes 15 mins to reach the stop I get off at, Montgomery station. Overall my commute is like 30 minutes.
On tuesday, the lightrail (no the one I was on, but another) derailed after West Portal. No one got hurt, but muni was shut down from West Portal to Van Ness station, about four stops. It takes 10 mins via the underground to get from West Portal to Van Ness (sometimes more if there's too many cars underground; a one stop, a train goes above ground if its outbound. Inbound (heading downtown), it gets onto the system, some it can jam things up.)
It took me an hour to get to work as I had to take a bus from West Portal to Van Ness. It took me an hour to get home. It took Kostya 2 hours to get home. Oy.
Then, around 8 p.m., there was an earthquake. It was a 4.4 near Santa Rosa in Sonoma county, so it wasn't strong in SF. Carpathia didn't freak out or anything. Apparently animals go nuts during natural disasters, but the quake in SF was so weak that Carpathia was just like, "whatever."
At work I listen to an itunes radio statio called headcase radio. Its a very eclectic mix, with classical, some oldies, alternative, and some standup. Gives me joy.
Love you all, peace out.
