Such a lovely weekend

I'm realizing lately how much the weather affects my mood, so with the awesome weather we had this weekend, I was in a pretty great mood. It was also a very relaxed weekend which was perfect since I have spent about 1 weekend at home in the past 2 months. Friday Chris and I had breakfast for dinner and rented a Red Box movie - Green Zone (it was worth the $1, but I'm glad it wasn't more than that). That night we moved all the deck furniture around in preparation for Hurricane Earl. Earl was a no show but it made for perfect weather on Saturday. It was so gorgeous and windy (I love the wind) and sunny. Chris and I took Chani on a long walk down the Esplanade and then back on the Cambridge side which was lovely. That evening we were lazy and ordered pizza.

Oh speaking of the long walk, I've noticed a disturbing trend lately - kids who are WAY too old riding in strollers! What would possess a parent to put a 7 or 8 year old in a stroller - that's just bizarre. And I'm 99% certain these kids do not have developmental disabilities, so what could be the reason? I noticed this the last summers and now again. With all the warnings about childhood obesity, wouldn't you expect a 7 year old to walk - I mean even if I'm highly exaggerating their age, wouldn't you expect a 5 year old to walk?

The next morning we enjoyed breakfast on the roof deck and hung out for a while. Then we did some grocery shopping and then we walked over to the movie theater on the Common. We saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with co-worker M. I really liked it. I mean the premise was ridiculous and normally the video game aspect would make me hate the movie, but I really liked it! I enjoy Michael Cera and it was just my type of quirky movie. After that we had dinner at the Parish Cafe and then strolled back to Charlestown.

Monday we enjoyed another morning of breakfast on the roof deck. Then I headed up to NH to hang out with my SIL and my niece. It was so nice hanging out with them and Haley is adorable and calls me "Auntie". I know I'm biased but I think she's very impressive - she knows a ton of words at only 18 months. She knows colors, things (like ball or phone), animals, body parts, characters (like Elmo and Cookie Monster), she even knows the sounds the each animal makes - she's super smart and adorable.

That night Chris and I grilled buffalo burgers and portabello mushrooms and had some curry roasted potatoes. I love buffalo burgers. Steak and Lobster are fine and all but I'll take a buffalo burger with american cheese and a little ketchup on a sandwich thin over them any day. Anyway, I had a lovely and relaxing this weekend and now I'm working from home this week, which is exciting but I have a ton of shite to get done!
