Job interview went well. The entire thing was less than 20 minutes. I could tell they were interviewing a lot of people, which made me less certain I'd get the job. My mother had told me that schools generally only interview the top few people they're considering, but it was obvious that they hadn't gone through my resume in any detail.
But yeah, they asked me why I wanted the position and what sort of experience I had dealing with special needs kids. I talked mostly about Logan since he's the extent of my experience. Basically, the job would involve me tailing four special needs kids throughout the day, helping them with their work and making sure they get to and from their classes. Three of them are "mildly autistic", but the fourth apparently can be a handful. I would rotate throughout the day, assisting each kid in turn. It's a six-hour day, from 8:30-2:30. I'd start at just under $11 an hour.
Honestly, the only thing that worries me about the position is that I'd constantly be "watched" by whichever teacher is in the room with me. I get so self-conscious when I think people are evaluating my behavior. I'm not a natural with kids, despite the fact that I keep trying to get jobs dealing with them.
Anyway, the best thing for this job would just be to get to know those four kids. Once I know them, I'll know how to deal with them.
Fingers crossed?
