Illness + Music + Cookies = Me Right Now
I think I'm going to see the nurse again tomorrow and get some antibiotics. The congestion, instead of leaving me, has seemed to settle in my head. I also got an eye infection, causing me to be unable to wear my contacts (and I don't own glasses). I got drops and thought it had gone away, but I wore my contacts for about 4 hours on Monday and about two hours today, and my eyes started hurting again, and might even look a little red. It was a fresh pair of contacts, too, only I realized that they expired in December of 2006. So I need to get my prescription filled for those, I need to buy a new contact case and some cleaning solution, and I should probably buy a new toothbrush and all that. Two days ago some of my teeth started feeling sensitive; now it's worse, and the gums in the back of my mouth at the top hurt and were bleeding last night when I brushed. All the mouth stuff is probably related to the concentration of ICK in my head. I also got a cold sore. To top it all off, my period arrived tonight. My body's been a mess for a week and a half now. This is definitely one of the shittiest colds I've had in a while. The cold itself wasn't that bad, but its lingering affects are pretty sucky.
In other news, I resurrected the use of my iPod, which had been lying uncharged at the bottom of a pile of crap for weeks. And oh, the music. I've been listening to music by genre instead of playlist or artist, so the stuff that's come up has been exciting. A lot of it, I haven't heard in a looong time. The one that's really sitting with me now is the main track off the Ever After soundtrack, which I was totally in love with when it came out when I was, what -- 12 or 13? It's by Texas, called "Put Your Arms Around Me." It's funny, because my younger self used to imagine a grand adventure whenever I thought about the lyrics. It was a friend asking me if I was ready to go on an epic quest to save the world. Almost a decade later, I look back and think, "Wow, really missed the point of that one."
